There's an old belief that when someone dies on a Saturday, he goes straight to heaven because on Saturdays the gates of heaven are open.

And if someone dies on a first saturday of the month, he's more lucky because the Blessed Virgin Mary will be the one to fetch and accompany that person to the gates of heaven.

April 2 is the feast day of the Divine Mercy, on which PJPII was a devotee.
