My dad was ecstatic. My mom was sad. No, melancholic. I was both.
At
this age, I didn't expect to feel like such a kid with glee upon seeing
what the whole world has been waiting for. Kinda like waiting for a
baby to arrive. My dad was just surfing channels and happened to choose
CNN. A few seconds after he switched, there it was - the white smoke. We
now have a new Pope.
It felt weird half-wanting to see the new
one and half-wanting to see PJPII again come out of the window. Again,
as I said, I was both.
Much has been said about Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger. But this is what I have to share...
There's
this guy named Dr. Scott Hahn, then a Protestant, who loved a certain
book that moved him so much, written by someone who had so much profound
insights about God. He thought the book was written by a Protestant
too.
He converted to Catholicism after finding out that it was
written by a Catholic Priest. Dr. Scott Hahn is now an exceptionally
popular speaker and professor and has delivered numerous, passionate
talks with topics regarding the Scriptures and the Catholic faith.
The author of the book that he read - then Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger.
We have a new Pope. May God Bless him with a fruitful life and may the Holy Spirit guide him in his journey.
